Xiaomi is all set to launch its new Mi Watch on November 5 in China. The Mi Watch will run Snapdragon Wear OS. The smartwatch is also the first wearable from Xiaomi to house the Snapdragon Wear 3100 Chipset.
Now looking at the renders shared officially, Xiaomi seems to have taken design clues from Apple when designing the smartwatch. And now, the Mi watch zooms forward in full glory in an official video, shared by Qu Heng (GM, Xiaomi Ecological Chain). Moreover, the video also shows many design and software-related features, ahead of the launch.

In a first, Xiaomi has customized its MIUI for its smartwatches. As such, the new Mi Watch will run MIUI for Watch, globally. And from the looks of it, the UI will still be running on top of Android Wear OS from Google.
Plethora of Apps
As seen in the video, Xiaomi’s Mi Watch sports a launcher, just like the Android smartphones. Users can browse all the apps from a list in one place. There are a plethora of apps seen in the video. That includes –
- Calls,
- Contacts,
- Messages,
- Alarm,
- Clock,
- Torch,
- Mi Store,
- Calendar,
- Mi Fit,
- Vibrato,
- Alipay, and
- WeChat.
Qu Heng also said that this watch is a smartphone but in a watch form-factor.
And since many smartwatches use OLEDs nowadays, it isn’t speculative that this smartwatch will have an OLED display. But it should house an OLED panel with touch-screen capability. Moreover, the users will be able to scroll through the screen using the digital crown or by simply touching the display.
Now according to previous announcements made by the company, the Mi Watch will house the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset and run the Android Wear OS, albeit heavily skinned. The smartwatch will also be featuring Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, Internet, and Calling using an eSIM card.
So, to wrap things up, the Mi Watch will launch alongside the Mi CC9 Pro, and Mi TV 5 on November 5, 2 PM (CST).
