Xiaomi Mi TV 5 officially revealed in China with 8K QLED Display

As planned, China-based Xiaomi today launched its latest Mi TV 5 Pro line-up in its home country. Thereby, extending its existing line-up of Smart TVs across the world. The new Mi TV 5 series is available in three different screen sizes — 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch.

The Mi TV 5 Pro lineup comes with a Quantum Dot QLED display panel. The panel has support for HDR10+, MEMC motion compensation, 8K decoding, and 108% NTSC color gamut. With the Quantum Dot display technology, the company is looking at the premium segment.

The Mi TV 5 houses the Amlogic T972 chipset fabricated on the 12nm process with support for 8K video recording. This allows for a claimed 63% increase in performance than the previous-generation CPU. It also comes with MEMC dynamic image-quality compensation technology, allowing for smoother motion pictures and crisper and cleaner details.

The Mi TV 5 Pro is also packed with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory to ensure smoother performance. As usual, this new Smart TV from Xiaomi comes with its PatchWall software. It also comes with features such as Dolby Audio and DTS HD Sound.

As far as the thickness is concerned, the Mi TV 5 Pro measures only 5.9 mm, which is less than the 8.1 mm iPhone 11 thickness. The bezel around the screen is 47.1 percent narrower than that of Mi TV 4, which is only 1.8 mm in width. The unit is made of aluminum and comes with a screw-less build.

As far as pricing is concerned, the 55-inch model of the newly launched TV is priced at CNY 3,699, which converts to ~$537. On the other hand, the 65-inch and 75-inch models cost 4,999 yuan and 9,999 yuan, which is about ~$713 and ~$1,425 respectively.
